Mike Finnigan, geboren als Michael Kelly Finnigan, (26. April 1945 in Troy, Ohio) ist ein amerikanischer Sänger und Keyboardspieler. Besonders gerne nutzt er die Hammondorgel.[1]

Finnigan begann 1964 in Kansas als Berufsmusiker zu arbeiten. Dann zog er nach Wichita und begann mit der Band The Serfs zu touren. Während einer Reise der Band nach New York lud Jimi Hendrix ihn zu einer Session ein, die Eingang in dessen berühmte Platte Electric Ladyland fand.[2]

Im Jahr 1970 nahm Jerry Hahn mit seiner Blues-Jazz-Rock-Band The Jerry Hahn Brotherhood mit Mike Finnigan, Clyde Graves und George Marsh die gleichnamige Schallplatte mit zehn Liedern auf, davon sieben Lieder von Lane Tietgen, einschließlich Captain Bobby Stout und Martha's Madmen.[3][4]

1972 formte Finnigan die Band Finnigan and Wood.

1975 ließ sich Mike Finnigan in Los Angeles nieder und arbeitet als Studio- und Tourmusiker für Crosby, Stills and Nash, Dave Mason, Etta James, Dr. John, Carlos Santana, Joe Cocker und Bonnie Raitt.[5]

Seit Anfang der 2000er Jahre spielt er regelmäßig in The Phantom Blues Band mit dem Musiker Taj Mahal. In neuerer Zeit tourt er mit Bonnie Raitt.

Familie

Mike Finnigan ist seit über 40 Jahren mit Candy Finnigan, einer Suchtspezialistin, verheiratet. Das Paar hat zwei Kinder, den Sohn Kelly und die Tochter Bridge.[6]
