Black Stone Cherry est un groupe de metal alternatif formé le 4 juin 2001 à Edmonton, Kentucky, États-Unis. Ils ont signé avec Roadrunner Records.

Le groupe est composé de Chris Robertson (chant, guitare), Ben Wells (guitare, churs), John Lawhon (bass guitar, background vocals), et John Fred Young (batterie, churs), fils du guitariste rythmique Richard Young (du groupe The Kentucky Headhunters). Black Stone Cherry a publié quatre albums studio et trois EP.

Biographie

Le groupe Black Stone Cherry est originaire d'Edmonton dans le Kentucky. Chris Robertson et John Fred Young, le fils de Richard Young, guitariste rythmique des The Kentucky Headhunters, commencèrent à jouer ensemble au tout début de leur adolescence puis Jon et Ben suivirent rapidement. Black Stone Cherry se forma officiellement le 4 juin 2001. Ils commencèrent alors à répéter dans le studio (depuis 1968) des Kentucky Headhunters et enregistrèrent quelques titres. Ils retournèrent alors a Edmonton pour un concert dans la salle de gym de leur lycée, auquel 1500 personnes assistèrent. Pour fêter la sortie de leur premier EP, le principal de leur lycée les invita pour un grand concert organisé par l'école. Cependant, alors que le groupe entrait en ville, il découvrirent avec stupeur que les rues étaient couvertes de signes de bienvenue.

En juillet 2007, ils sortirent leur second EP

Leurs premier album fut enregistré en live le 31 octobre 2007, pendant une série de concerts au London Astoria. Ils se joignirent alors à Def Leppard et Whitesnake pour une série de concerts durant l'été 2008 en Europe.

Le 19 août 2008, Black Stone Cherry sortit son deuxième album, intitulé Folklore and Superstition. Quatre singles furent tirés de cet album : "Blind Man", "Please Come In", "Things My Father Said" et "Soul Creek".

En mai 2009, ils participèrent à la tournée de Nickelback Dark Horse tour.
